Surveys provide important data for nursing program decision-making and the documentation of meeting accreditation standards. The purpose of Part I of this two-part series is to describe valid and reliable survey data collection processes with a focus on how to write effective survey questions. Similar to writing examination questions, the art of writing survey questions is key to collecting valid data to accurately assess various program, curricular, faculty, resource, and educational outcome criteria.
