Biography

Mrs. Karen Rollo has over 30 years of experience combined in nursing practice and nursing education. As the Instructional Director for the Stanton Campus Associate Degree Nursing Program of Delaware Technical Community College, Mrs. Rollo provides leadership for and administers a program of 30 full-time faculty, 300 Associate Degree program students and approximately 1,000 nursing interest students who are working toward application to the program. Her areas of expertise include emergency, medical-surgical, forensic and mobile transport nursing at Christiana Care Health System, as well as nursing education and accreditation with Delaware Tech and the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN). Mrs. Rollo began her nursing education career in 2007 as faculty in the Associate Degree program and was promoted to Instructional Director in 2013. Mrs. Rollo has served as a peer evaluator and team chair for the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) since 2011 and 2014, respectively, and was recently appointed to the Evaluation Review Panel (ERP) for January 2018. A long-time member of the Emergency Nurses Association, Mrs. Rollo has presented emergency nursing and forensic nursing topics locally, regionally and nationally. She served on the Delaware Chapter of the ENA conference planning committee for 10 years. Mrs. Rollo is also a member of the NLN, ANA and DNA. Mrs. Rollo earned a Master of Science in Nursing degree from Wilmington University and completed doctoral coursework at Delaware State University. She has been published in the Journal of Emergency Nursing and the American Association of Legal Nurse Consultants’ Legal Nurse Consulting: Principles and Practice, 3rd edition (2010). From 2012 – 2014 Mrs. Rollo was a member of a college wide curriculum committee charged with aligning Delaware Tech’s three nursing program curricula and policies. In 2015, she became a member of the Delaware Tech RN to BSN Development Team. At Delaware Tech, Mrs. Rollo serves on the college wide GRIT Taskforce and the Nemours Health Equity Consortium.
