Dr. Kate Williams-Ashman, DNP has held the position of Regional Director of Professional Development & Research at Baylor Scott & White Austin/Round Rock Region since 2014. In her role, Dr. Williams-Ashman has implemented a Nurse Residency program; increased specialty certification to a current rate of 34% across the region; implemented EBP models of competency management; developed and implemented professional development programs; and lead shared governance implementation. Since 2015, Dr. Williams-Ashman has served as Pathway to Excellence Program Coordinator and with successful designation for hospital and ambulatory care clinics in January 2017.
Prior to joining Baylor Scott and White, Kate worked over 16 years in Pediatric and emergency room nursing, and nine years as an educator including four years as faculty and program coordinator at Northern Caribbean University School of Nursing. In her role as faculty, Dr. Williams-Ashman worked extensively on curriculum development and implementation, as well as methods of testing and measurement.
Dr. Williams-Ashman serves as member of nursing advisory boards at Austin Community College, South University and Texas A&M Health Science Center (BSC) Schools of Nursing; as well as ANCC Practice Transition Accreditation Program Appraiser.
Dr. Williams-Ashman achieved a MSN from University of West Indies, Mona, and DNP – Executive Leadership from UT-Austin. She is certified through the American Nurses Credentialing Center as a Board Certified Nursing Professional Development Practitioner (RN-BC). She is a member of the Association of Nursing Professional Development, Texas Nurses Association and American Nurses Association.
